Coconut oil and honey mask for a shiny and healthy hair

Officially, we’re in December and Christmas and New Year’s Eve are just a couple of days away, that’s why I’m so excited these days. December is definitely my favorite month of the year, and not just because of Santa. This period is all about goodness, cherishing the little things and sharing smiles to everyone.

Everything sounds perfect in the first winter month, but as the weather gets colder and colder, we should take care even more of ourselves. Going from the warm autumn days to below freezing temperatures can do a lot of damage to our hair and I’m sure a lot of you gals have the same problem I have.. loosing a lot of hair in this period.

But the solution is right in our hands and from the many products I’ve tested over the years the most helpful treatment was using something organic, like coconut oil. Actually, coconut oil is not the only thing I use to take care of my hair and today I’ve decided to share with you my magic hair mask. This is what I’m using for it:

  • 2 spoon of coconut oil ( if you have a long hair, you can easily use 3 spoons)
  • 3 spoon of olive oil
  • 2 spoon of honey
  • 1 spoon of castor oil
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Juice of half a lemon

Obviously the star of this mask is the coconut oil, which will moisturize your head and nourish the hair cuticles. Your hair will gain more strength thanks to honey and its water-soluble vitamins, folic acid, vitamic  K and provitamis A, which leave it soft and easy to comb.

The olive oil will also help your hair become softer, restoring and nourishing the hair structure, as the oil removes dead skin cells and stabilizes the sebaceous gland function. The castor oil makes your hair grow faster, preventing dry hair, splitting peaks and thickening and in the end, the egg yolk and lemon juice are also good stimulants for hair growth. So here’s how it’s made.

After I’ve mixed all these ingredients, I went straight to the bathroom, applying all this mix from bottom to tips, keeping this mask on for about 2 hours. Then I’ve washed my hair and for 30 minutes I’ve kept it in a fluffy towel to absorb the water.

After drying my hair the treatment was all done and the final result was more than awesome… my hair was full of volume, looking shiny and beautiful. I love it ! I hope you like my mask and maybe you could even trying it out yourselves.

Kisses and hugs and have a happy weekend!
