My latest trip to Austria went straight to my top five favorite vacations, even though it was pretty short. But in just a few days we’ve seen so many beautiful places and spectacular sights in the Austrian Alps that I’d recommend anyone to take the same trip. And luckily for you guys, I saved the best for last – my visit to Innsbruck, a city that’s almost too good to true.
Surrounded by majestic peaks of the Austrian Alps wherever you might turn your head, this charming town will make you believe in love at first sight once again, with its amazing architecture, breathtaking views and a certain vibe that’s very hard to describe. I felt like I was entering another world the minute we arrived in the town’s center, and these pictures might give you an idea about what I’m talking about.
Some of you might know that Innsbruck is the capital of Austria’s Tyrol region and it’s also a place renowned for winter sports, since it hosted the Winter Olympics twice, back in 1964 and 1976. With so many mountains, winter resorts and ski slopes around, it’s no wonder why. I’m not a big fan of winter sports myself, but if there’s one place that will surely convince you to try them out, it’s definitely this town.
Anyways, let’s get back to my story. Step by step we’ve started to discover Innsbruck’s sheer beauty and honestly, I didn’t expect it to be this nice. Colorful houses, amazing architecture, cobblestone streets, great food, and that perfect setting, with the mountains in the background, the river Inn going through the middle of the city, fresh air and the best weather for a few shots.. what more could I ask for?
I felt like the time stood still here and the people who live in Innsbruck didn’t really bother about it. I’m always on the go and I complain that I don’t have to do this or that, but here, they just sit down, relax, listen to the sound of the river or the crowds, and just enjoy these magical views and the good life here. Everyone seemed so happy and relaxed, and I loved it!
For a moment I’ve wanted to take this vibe home with me, and spread that feeling to all the people I know, but then I realized that this is not something you could buy or simply take home. It’s something you start to have when you appreciate everything around you more and you’re happy with what you have. We only have a life and I think we must try to appreciate it to the max.
Now, I’ll let you enjoy these pics, and if you’ve never thought about going to Innsbruck, trust me, it’s totally worth it 🙂
